Warren Jones/UWA Postgraduate Medical Research Scholarship

The Fremantle Hospital Medical Research Foundation and the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at at The University of Western Australia will provide a PhD scholarship, to be known as the Warren Jones/UWA Postgraduate Research Scholarship, for the purpose of encouraging high calibre students to undertake PhD research supervised and undertaken at Fremantle Hospital.

The scholarship is awarded in accordance with the following conditions.

1.                The scholarship is available to students enrolled for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), under the supervision of a researcher based at Fremantle Hospital and primarily conducted at Fremantle Hospital, specialising in an area of medical research in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at The University of Western Australia.

2.                 The scholarship is awarded by UWA's Higher Degrees and Scholarships Committee.

3.                The criteria for selection are academic merit and the requirement for the research to be undertaken, and supervised by a researcher based at, Fremantle Hospital.

4.                The scholarship is awarded annually for a period of up to three years and six months.

5.                 The value of the scholarship is $29,817 per annum for three years with the possibility of an extension for a further six months. The Foundation will contribute $1,677 per annum towards the cost of laboratory fees for the first three years and a further $839 will be provided where an extension of the scholarship for six months has been granted. In addition, the Foundation will provide $1,677 towards travel costs for the scholar to present their findings, which is to be taken during the term of the scholarship.

7.                 Any dissertation, thesis or publication resulting from research undertaken during receipt of the scholarship must acknowledge the Warren Jones/UWA Postgraduate Research Scholarship.
