2011 Warren Jones Oration : Professor Douglas Hilton, Director of the Walter and Eliza Hall of Medical Research.

The Warren Jones Oration provides an opportunity to bring a speaker of international significance to Fremantle Hospital each year.

We were exceptionally fortunate that the first Warren Jones Orator was Nobel Laureate Professor Barry Marshall, Patron of the Fremantle Hospital Medical Research Foundation, on the topic of his 2005 Nobel Prize-winning research, Helicobacter pylori.
The second Warren Jones Oration in 2006 was provided to a capacity crowd by Bruce R Bacon, Professor of Gastroenterology at St Louis University and co-discoverer of the haemachromatosis gene.

The third Warren Jones Oration was given by Prof Bernard J Gersh MD of the esteemed Mayo Clinic on the topic "A Clinical Perspective of Cardiac Stem Cell Repair Therapy: Challenges and Pitfalls" on 15 May 2008 at the University of Western Australia.

The 2009 Oration was given by Prof Michael Good, Chairman of the NHMRC and Director of the Queensland Institute of Medical Research on the topic developing Vaccines for the World's Poorest".

The 2010 Oration was given by Laureate Professor Peter Doherty AC FAA FRS, joint winner of the 1996 Nobel Price for Physiology or Medicine for discovering "the nature of the cellular immune defence". His topic was "Living with Complexity".

The 2011 Oration was given by Professor Douglas Hilton, Director of the Walter and Eliza Hall of Medical Research on Tuesday 20 September 2011.

It was held at the University Club, University of Western Australia.
